Dr
Ian Wacogne
BA BM BCH MRCP MRCPCH
Ian is a consultant paediatrician in the Birmingham Children's Hospital
in the UK and was until recently the Chief Resident at the Royal
Children's Hospital, Brisbane, Australia, and an associate lecturer
in paediatrics at the University of Queensland.
Ian graduated from Oxford University Medical School in 1993. After
completing house jobs in Plymouth and Oxford he began his paediatric
training which has taken him from Northampton and the West Midlands
to Brisbane and the deep outback, where he has acted as the only
paediatrician for 700 km. His current role as Chief Resident combines
his professional interests of education and paediatric endocrinology,
and has augmented his interest in administration. In addition to
coordination of paediatric registrars throughout the state of Queensland
he is an enthusiastic advocate for evidence based practice and is
involved with a number of projects in that field.
Outside paediatrics Ian enjoys travelling, is an avid reader and
keen cyclist, although he can tend to be very smug about the latter.
