An epispadia is where the urethral meatus opens on the dorsal aspect of the penile shaft.

The condition is rare and much less common than hypospadia.

Epispadias may occur in isolation but are usually associated with other anomalies, for example:

  • ectopic vesicae
  • bladder neck defects
  • splayed pelvis
